MTP®|MPO to LC breakout cable is a high density fiber assembly that converts a MPO|MTPconnector (8, 12, or 24core) on one end into multiple duplex LC connectors (usually 4 to 12) on the other. It acts as a fanout fiber optic patchcord, connecting high speed switches 40G/100G/400G to lower-speed, legacy equipment 10G/25G, reducing cabling complexity and maximizing port density.
MTP®|MPO to LC breakout cable is available in singlemode (OS2) and multimode (OM3/OM4/OM5) for varied distances. Singlemode MTP®|MPO to LC breakout cable suitable for long distance transmission, and multimode for short distance. The most common configuration are 8-fiber MTP/MPO to 4x duplex LC breakout cable is commonly used to split a 40G QSFP+ signal into four 10G SFP+ connections, or used to split a 100G QSFP28 signal into four 25G SFP28 connections.
